Description

This fabulous Old Sheffield Plate (OSP) lidded entree dish weighs an impressive 5.472 pounds. With inside measurements of 11.5" x 8.5" and 2" deep, this has enough room for any entree. Or you can unscrew the handle and the lid then becomes a second serving dish, measuring 10.5" x 7.5" and 1.75" deep. Both the dish and the lid are decorated on the rims with the same acanthus and floral embellishments that is on the lid top. The handle is an elaborate flowing acanthus leaf design that is very distinctive. The lid also has an engraved crest of 6 arrows encircled by a belt on the domed portion of one side. This versatile piece would add elegance to your dining table and is another fine antique offered by Chancery Lane Antiques, Inc. $395.00
